Tretinoin and Water….FYI
by anonymous

New to using Obagi and Tretinoin here. Got a severe red/burned area on left side of neck (large). After doing research online on Tretinoin I found that Tretinoin and water do NOT mix at all. Meaning, make sure that you wait 20-30 minutes after cleansing and toning, etc. before applying blender and Tretinoin. Skin needs to be totally dry. I think I still had moisture on neck and that is why it burned. Just an observation.

I have never encountered this problem with blender + Tretinoin! the burning may be from the sensitvity of your skin to tretinoin. You should not apply the blender + tretinoin to the neck on a daily routine…only 1-2x/week. this area is thinner and more sensitive than the face.
Also, (don’t mean to sound funny) you should dry your face after washing, then apply toner with a cotton pad…do not soak your face with Toner. You only need enough toner to slighly moisten the skin…this is just enough to balance the acidity level in your skin. Wait 2 minutes before applying next step. Good Luck. more tretinoin & obagi . . .

Shall I avoid the eye area when I use “Clear”? And what about avoiding the eye area when it comes to “Obagi Blender” or Tretinoin”?

No,you do not need to avoid the eye area. Those products are perfectly fine to use in the eye area. Good Luck!

Yes, you may use clear all over the face but definitely do not use trentinoin around the eye, the skin is too delicate. I have found using it in the folds of the nose and around the mouth has caused me to become too dry and crack. The area around the mouth has high vascularity and will have a greater reaction which can be very uncomfortable. If you protect those areas with Aquaphor (over the counter) it protects those areas from the cracking. more …

I started the system 4 days ago and was told to wait 6 weeks before including the Cffectives 10% for the face. I have heard others say they included it from the beginning. Which is the correct way? Also when do you start the Cffectives 5% for the eyes & does it help w/ the dryness?

I started the C-effectives before I started the full Obagi program. At that point, I loved it because it gave my skin a nice glow and made it smoother. But once all the irritation kicked in from the other products, I noticed the Vit. C really stung when I put it on and my face would turn bright red after applying it. So, I quit using it for awhile until things calmed down and the irritation became less. Now, I just apply it very lightly and it is more tolerable. The C-effectives for eyes is great and can be used all along. It does help with dryness.

The Cffectives as per the instructions really recommended to use with the nuderm line and not the Obagi Rx C line..I use the vit. C 15% serum as well as the eye contour at 5%..it really helps during these irritating times to look more fresh and glowing.. i thank God for that much at this point.. more

No.

Are there any side effects associated with SkinCeuticals Topical Vitamin-C products?

Less than one-tenth of one percent of all people using SkinCeuticals Topical Vitamin-C products have had any difficulties. Some individuals experience a mild stinging when the product is first applied, which is attributable to the high acidic concentration necessary to get the L-ascorbic acid (vitamin-C) into the skin. Many individuals find this sensation subsides with continued use, specifically as the skin begins its natural healing process.
